Askar Refugee Camp currently does not have an ambulance and must transport injured and ailing residents to the hospital by private vehicle and can take over an hour during heavy traffic periods.
Too many residents of Askar Camp do not survive the ride due to no medical equipment nor trained staff on board.
Not to mention the fact that it is not uncommon that the Israeli military obstructs Askar Camp residents access to hospitals by closing checkpoints or blocking the main road and preventing Palestinians from using it. Ambulances have a far greater chance to get through these barriers than private vehicles, although even ambulances are often barred from transporting injured Palestinians to hospitals.
With no exaggeration, the situation is dire and your financial support will save lives.
The Boulder-Nablus Sister City Project fosters relationships through cultural, educational, information and trade exchanges, inspiring lifelong friendships that support prosperity and peace through person-to-person “citizen diplomacy.” We arrange delegations to Nablus, with an emphasis on service, host Nablus citizens in Boulder, produce Palestinian cultural events and share expertise between citizens of both cities.
